Sticks and Strings

My son loves the outdoors and hunting, but we have always had a difficult time getting him to read. He has dyslexia so reading practice is important, but it’s usually a chore. Since receiving Birthday Buck, my son has read almost everyday. I was so surprised when he said he was going to his room to read and was even more surprised when I saw he was on chapter 10. It was so nice to not have to beg him. However, I was curious and one afternoon read the book myself and was pleased to discover so many valuable lessons hidden among the hunting tales. Although Birthday Buck is a hunting story for those who love the outdoors it is also so much more!!

As a mother, I am very selective about the quality of books my children read. As a parent of two boys, I want my kids to read about what they love: hunting! The Hunt Club Series books truly meets my children’s needs and I feel confident as a parent about what my children are reading. I have e-mailed the author before and was so touched by his response and care. He is a blessing in our life. I highly recommend his books and we are eager for the next one.

As a librarian, I am always searching for good, clean family books. One area where our need is great is with boys. When we saw this series, my principal (who is an avid hunter) and I knew we needed these books. We ordered the first set. We can’t keep them on the shelf. They are a great hit with both boys and girls. Boys who were never interested in reading became interested.

These books also teach good morals and values with great family experiences. Librarians will love the series, and parents will be excited about it, too. I even bought some for my grandson, and he looks forward to getting more.

Intriguing, fun and wholesome books for kids who love the outdoors! We look forward to each new release by Jimmy Tidmore! I especially appreciate the touch of Christian values/character this author brings in to each book! Our entire family enjoys this series! Highly recommend!!!

What began as just another chapter book for our 8 year old son, with us reading together, culminated in him sneaking to read by flashlight after bedtime and staying up late on a Saturday to finish the book (and even waking me that night to try to tell me about the ending). He loved the humor in the book, even giggling out loud as he imagined the main character brought to life. As a parent, I appreciated the wholesome nature of the book, which touched on peer relationships and learning how to be truly happy for a friend’s success. It’s difficult to find many chapter books that will hold the interest of our very active son, but Birthday Buck definitely fit the bill! I’ve recommended it to all of our friends. Now we can’t wait for the next release!

Loved the story! I love hunting with my family, and I wish I would have had “Birthday Buck” to read to my sons when they were younger. It reminded me of the expectant heart of young hunters and the true reason why we hunt.

We have a 9-year-old now who was introduced to The Hunt Club Kids Books at 8. Our son is a typical country kid that would rather be hunting, fishing, or riding his four-wheeler than learn to read. That was until he was introduced to Birthday Buck. I thought we bought the book for him, but our whole family of 5 couldn’t wait to read the next chapter every evening!! It not only got our son excited to learn to read, but it also brought our family together by doing something together every evening. We shared a lot of laughs, and it was a critical tool we used to teach our son to read! Now we have all the books!!! If you’re on the fence, do yourself a favor and buy these books!!!!

Our son is not really a sensitive, sweet, touchy feely kid. He loves to hunt and play video games. Reading has never been something enjoyable for him. We got the first book “Birthday Buck” and he couldn’t put it down. He asked everyday when the next book was coming out. Jimmy has been great with corresponding about new books and encouraging my son to read. We even got a few signed copies. Great wholesome and engaging books.

We just finished book 1 – Birthday Buck. My son absolutely loves the storyline—he’s hooked! We read it every night before bed. From a parent’s perspective, I love the subtle biblical concepts woven into the characters as well! If you have kids who have a love for the outdoors, these books are the real deal. We can’t wait to start into book 2!

My 9 year old grandson loves The Hunt Club Kids Series! He is a reluctant reader and was struggling in school. He loves hunting with his dad, and I was so happy to find well-written, wholesome books about hunting for him. Imagine my delight when my son sent me a picture of my grandson reading Birthday Buck unsolicited. This series is exactly what my grandson needed to encourage him to read and find the love of reading. I can’t thank you enough.

Highly recommended! As a hunting dad with two little hunting buddies, we read every night before bed. We have read the first four books at least three times each. Wholesome, real life lessons about our favorite sport! We look forward to ordering the next two!

My boys loved these books! They had fun engaging stories with good life lessons. My 8 old read all of them in a month. He is wanting more!
